Becky G, Fifth Harmony, and Grace Helbig Team to Prevent Teen Smoking
Becky G, Fifth Harmony, and some of today’s most popular internet icons like King Bach, Grace Helbig, Harley Morenstein, AlphaCat and more to appear teamed up to create a new music video called “Left Swipe Dat” which calls attention to the impact smoking photos can have in social media.
“Left Swipe Dat” is filled with lyrics and hilarious scenarios that show why photos of smoking selfies on social media and dating sites are being “left swiped.” More than 50 percent of young adults admit to social smoking but social smokers do not identify as smokers. Fortunately, teen smoking is on the decline. In the year 2000, 23 percent of teens smoked in the U.S. Today, that number is only 8 percent. It’s a big win, but Big Tobacco isn’t walking away, and neither should we. “Left Swipe Dat” is another activation in truth’s Finish It campaign which debuted last August.
“This is a funny video, but it also has a powerful message,” said Becky G. “I was excited to work with truth because I know that this is an issue that our generation can own and win. It’s an issue that impacts each and every one of us!”
