GLITTER: How old were you when you first started acting?

RICARDO: I started acting when I was about 13! My first role was a Wickersham Brother in my old school’s production of Seussical, the Musical.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about the Nickelodeon series, School of Rock? Who do you play?

RICARDO: School of Rock is a family TV Series about a group of kids who get a new substitute teacher, Mr. Finn. The only problem with this teacher is that he is not really a teacher! Mr. Finn teaches the kids how to break out of their shells and explore who they are through Rock and Roll. I play the role of Freddy. Freddy is the new kid who brings a fresh and rebellious perspective to the school. He is effortlessly cool, recognizes the opportunity in building the band with Dewey and challenges the class to take risks in the name of having fun.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about season 2 without giving anything away?

RICARDO: Season 2 has a lot going on! After the band wins Battle of the Bands in season 1, they start trying to record their very first song! This season also really explores the romance between Summer and Freddy.

GLITTER: What was your reaction when you found out School of Rock was nominated for an Emmy?

RICARDO: Finding out that School of Rock got an Emmy nomination was absolutely insane! I was on set when I saw my cast mates Jade and Breanna running towards me screaming we got nominated for the Emmy’s! It was definitely an amazing feeling that left me so happy the rest of the day.

GLITTER: What does a typical day look like for you?

RICARDO: A typical day for me is I wake up, eat breakfast, go to Paramount Pictures Studios, do school, rehearse and shoot episodes of School of Rock, record music for school of rock, go home, sleep!

GLITTER: Can you play any instruments?

RICARDO: I can play the drums, guitar, and I can sing! I’ve played the drums for about two years and I have been playing the guitar and singing for the last five years.

GLITTER: Is there anything your fans might not know about you?

RICARDO: Not a lot of fans know that I speak Spanish! My family is from Nicaragua and I have been fluent in Spanish all my life.

GLITTER: What do you enjoy doing on your free time?

RICARDO: I enjoy learning new songs on the guitar, hitting the pool, watching Netflix, and playing video games.

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

RICARDO: My definition of self-love is loving ourselves in an innocent rather than narcissistic way. Self-love is a good thing and everyone should strive to have and do it.

GLITTER: Do you have any upcoming projects you can tell us about?

RICARDO: I don’t have any upcoming projects yet but I’ll let you know when I do!

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?

RICARDO: My fans can follow me on Instagram: @Ricardo , Twitter: @rickyjhurtado , and Snapchat: oORicardoOo
