Attention All Female Filmmakers

Enter the #NewView Film Competition!On June 8, 2017, comedian and blogger, Lilly Singh shared on Instagram that she will be a judge for the Glamour and #GirlGaze New View film competition for young women! The competition’s website reads:

“Just 11 percent of all directors on the 500 top-grossing domestic films are women. That number is only slightly higher—32 percent—on short films. Because we are committed to supporting female filmmakers—not just by talking about the gender gap, but by actually helping close it in a meaningful way—Glamour and Girlgaze have joined forces to launch a film competition to provide young female filmmakers with the thing they most want: the chance to work.”

Five winners will be chosen to win $3,000 in prize money, as well as production budgeting to create a film for Glamour or one of their partners! This is seriously an amazing opportunity for young women everywhere. To enter the contest, simply send a link to a 3-5 minute film you have created alongside some answers to short essay questions about what inspires you as a female filmmaker! Once submitted, judges such as Chloë Grace Moretz, Amandla Stenberg, Gia Coppola, Rashida Jones and so many other wonderful women involved in the film industry will be reviewing your work.

It’s time to take charge, work together and get inspired by your fellow women! If you’ve made something you’re proud of, please submit to this contest! And if you’ve never made a film before but have always wanted to, let this motivate you in the right direction! Never underestimate the power of women when we join forces!
