Sleeping In May be Really Good For You

2017-06-26

Your dreams are literally about to come true!

If your constant work week schedule leaves you feeling tired and exhausted by the time Friday comes around, the last thing you want to hear is that catching up on all your sleep on the weekend is bad for your health. The University of Arizona had done research that shows it may increase your chances of getting heart disease.

But rejoice! Sleep Journal recently published research that suggests sleeping in on the weekends might actually have some benefits. Researchers based in South Korea, have recently conducted a study comparing sleep habits of 2,156 adults to their BMI (Body Mass Index).

The results of the study found that those that sleep little during the week and then caught up on sleep on the weekends tend to have lower BMIs (22.8) than those who don’t sleep as much on the weekend.

Many sleep experts suggest that the more sleep you get, the better. Because while well-rested you’re more likely to practice healthy habits such as exercise and well-balanced diet. But American Academy of Sleep still suggests that you should go to bed and wake up at the same time regardless of the day. They also recommend that you should be sleeping seven hours a night.

So hit that snooze, and get to sleeping!
