Was The ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Big Twist Hidden In Plain Sight?
It hasn’t even been a week since the series finale of Freeform’s hit TV drama Pretty Little Liars first aired.
In the big finale, you finally are shown who A.D. is. While the finale episode had multiple twists, this was the biggest one yet.

Uber A or A.D. was no more than Alex Drake. Now who’s Alex Drake? Oh it was Spencer Hasting’s (Troian Bellisario) twin sister who it turns out what replacing Spencer at times when nobody knew. Nobody knew except for Bellisario, and well of course the show’s creator I. Marlene King. And well the answer to this seven-series mystery may have been revealed long before it aired on television.
Bellisario’s Twitter bio reads “Actor. Writer. Poet. Dancer. Rock and Roll Jesus. (sometimes I play this chick Spencer Hastings on this show Pretty Little Liars). But only sometimes.”
WHAT?! Was the answer in front of your face this whole time?
Well it turns out Bellisario has known about this big twist since season five. And keeping it a secret was “real rough.” “But for a long time, people would ask, “Who’s A.D.?’ And I’d say, “It’s me!’ And everyone would just laugh,” she told Elle.
Unsurpirsingly, the Pretty Little Liars series finale broke records by being the most tweeted-about TV episode in 2017 with 1.7 million tweets around the globe, according to Variety.
