‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Film Adaptation Is Coming Your Way

Jenny Han’s novel, To All The Boys I Loved Before, will finally be getting its movie adaptation.

If you haven’t already read the novel, it’s about a young girl named Lara Jean Song Covey. When her hatbox, full of love letters written to every boy she’s ever loved, goes missing, she is forced to deal with the embarrassing repercussions.

The adaptation is a pretty important step for Hollywood. Not only is Han’s young adult novel centered on an Asian American girl, but the story also calls for a predominately Asian American cast. It already looks like up and coming actresses have been casted, including Pretty Little Liars’ Janel Parrish and Lana Condor (who previously starred in X-Men: Apocalypse).

Han shared her excitement with Seventeen Magazine, saying how refreshing it was to see an Asian American cast coming together to portray a mixed heritage family:

“The last time I saw Asian American women centered in a movie was Joy Luck Club. That was 25 years ago! I didn’t want Asian American girls to have to wait another 25 years to see themselves as the star of a movie.”

While it’s still going to be about a year until the film officially comes out, it’s amazing that this is actually happening!
