J.J. Watt’s Houston Flood Relief Fund Aims for $10 million
It all began Sunday Morning when the defensive end for the Houston Texans, J.J. Watt, initiated a Hurricane Harvey relief fund. The original purpose of the action was to reach $200,000, but with over 80,000 donations, that goal was quickly smashed and the goal was raised. With the money that is raised, Watt and his team will use semi-trucks to distribute food, water, and other supplies throughout the impacted Houston area.
This fund has even seen contributions from Ellen DeGeneres Drake and Walmart, just to name a few. If you think Watt is stopping at $8.5 million dollars, guess again. The relief fund goal has now been increased to $ 10 million. After significantly surpassing the original goal of $200,000, this is one goal that seems highly attainable.
As of August 31st, 2017, the Fund has raised over $12 million.
