Asian-American Advocate, Daniel Dae Kim, Replaces Ed Skrein For The Hellboy Reboot

A few weeks back, the incredible Ed Skrein backed out of the Hellboy reboot, and now we’ve discovered who will be filling the role.

Ed Skrein’s back out of the Hellboy movie has become viral on the internet, and Twitter applauded the graceful way he handled the matter. The original tweet is below:

We were all extremely proud of Skrein for refusing the role and not perpetuating the continued whitewashing of Asian characters. So, we are more than excited to see an Asian-American, Daniel Dae Kim, taking on the role. Dae Kim has been a long-standing advocate for Asian-Americans, and being Korean (by ethnicity), it shows all of us that when Skrein backed out and stood against white-washing, Hollywood didn’t turn a blind eye.

It’s going to be amazing to see how the reboot turns out! It now has better chances in the box office with the new casting choice. We hope that this will be a lesson for casting in Hollywood, as well as, other publications. Congratulations on the role, Daniel Dae Kim!
