Why Everyone Is Championing Fenty Beauty
You really cannot find anyone who has an issue with Rihanna’s latest Fenty Beauty line of make-up. And for a good reason: it champions diversity.
Unfortunately, the word “diversity” is thrown around a lot to simply attract headlines to people of color. However, diversity means more than just adding a black character to a TV show or music video. For Fenty Beauty, Rihanna harnesses the real meaning of diversity, and brings depth perception to the word; because for her makeup collection, it’s not just about your race.
In her official video debuting the line, Rihanna features various women- but there’s also a difference this time around. The women are also religiously diverse. Among the several women featured, one of them is visibly Muslim, wearing a black headscarf.
Rihanna also features the women individually as well as together, thus making a great emphasis on the strength in unity but also of embracing one’s identity. This is incredibly important because Rihanna’s fan base is just as diverse as her make-up line. The top six countries who tweet her the most are from Brazil, US, France, UK, Turkey, and Chile respectively.
