Can The US Step Up Its Game For Safe Cosmetics?

Over 30 countries have banned animal testing for cosmetic products. The USA is not one of them.

Right now, members of Congress are fighting to get there. Representatives Martha McSally (Republican-Arizona), Don Beyer (Democrat-Virginia), Ed Royce (Republican-California), Tony Cárdenas (Democrat-California), Frank LoBiondo (Republican-New Jersey) and Paul D. Tonko (Democrat-New York) are pushing for the Humane Cosmetics Act, which will have the US join that growing list.

Both Republicans and Democrats have put aside their ideological differences to support this bill. Can we get there? Petitions for animal rights have popped up, urging those who love their makeup and care about our furry friends to call their Representatives to ensure that we can apply makeup without the need for blinding and poisoning rabbits, mice, guinea pigs and hamsters to get that look.

We hope to see this happen very soon. For more information, check out Humane Society on Twitter for the progress that they’ve made and to get information on how you can join in on the action!
