Demi Lovato Named New Mental Health Ambassador for Global Citizen
Singer, songwriter, and actress Demi Lovato is now the Mental Health Ambassador at Global Citizen.
On Thursday, September 21, Demi Lovato performed at Cadillac House as part of Global Citizen and Cadillac’s “The Accelerator Series.” Lovato posted the announcement today on her Twitter exclaiming how excited she is to be named the new Mental Health Ambassador and can’t wait to start a Pilot Program with the Save the Children Program located in Iraq.
Global Citizen is a social action platform dedicated to helping solve global issues including world hunger, Us Foreign Aid, education efforts, and environmental relief. Lovato’s efforts towards the community started back in October of 2016 after encountering a little girl in a refugee camp that told her all she wanted was to be happy. Her first mission? To help bring displaced children hope and comfort from recent violence.
Save the Children’s HEART Program was chosen to offer psychological, healing, and educational efforts of the arts to those children and families who need it the most. Demi writes, “My hope is that this program can bring a bit of comfort to those who need the most. This isn’t about politics, or race, or religion. It’s simply about humanity and protecting one another.”
The 2017 Global Citizen Festival was held in Central Park, NY, last night and adhered to more than 60,000 fans and various artists including Demi Lovato, Pharrell, Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers, The Chainsmokers, Big Sean, Andra Day, and Alessia Cara. During the Festival President of Ghana, Nana Afuko-Addo, announced his government pledge of 100 million dollars to children Ghana to ensure free education to both girls and boys. My name is Kelsey Comeaux, I’m currently a Senior at McNeese State University, majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in New Media. I’ve always had an interest in creative media arts as well as music (four years private piano lessons) and slightly self taught acoustic guitarist ;) I remember making movies on my dad’s “Windows Movie Maker” growing up and showing them to my friends and family. Building on emotion and presenting an important message through my projects was such a fulfilling experience. I hope to do that on a wider base one day.
Other than that, I love sports and am naturally a competitive spirit. I love to go running for fun, as weird as that sounds; it’s such a great release for me during stressful times. I also enjoy writing, short fiction is my expertise, as well as reading various novels mostly consisting of Science Fiction and Romance. Anything dealing with an adrenaline rush involving the outdoors I’m game for. I’m here to explore, love wildly, feel passionately, and have diligence deriving from the soul.
