Saudi Arabia Lifts Their Ban On Women Driving

Women of Saudi Arabia will now be able to drive for personal and economic reasons.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has finally lifted its ban on women driving. Beginning next summer, women will be able to obtain licenses and will no longer face jail time or be fined for driving. Women will also not have to receive permission from males to take driving lessons, and they may drive wherever they like.
Previously, the ban has been cited as harsh criticism to KSA’s international reputation. The ban reflected Saudi Arabia as a place where women are oppressed. It has also caused families to have to spend most of their income on male drivers to transport women to and from their destinations.
Leaders are hoping this new policy will increase the number of women in the workforce and to improve their reputation as a progressive country. This is a huge step for Saudi Arabia, and we hope that this may inspire other nations and people to be open to change.
