Getty Images In France Bans Photoshopped Pictures

Body image takes a positive leap forward with Getty Images

Body image has always been a negative connotation in the model industry until the last ten years where having a more curvaceous body, and uplifting self-esteem fit the industry mold.

In a recent email received by Darwin Brandis, a Getty Image filmmaker, Getty Images dispelled a new French law that states any client wanting to use an image for commercial purposes to indicate whether or not the image has been altered in any way. This initiative will take place starting October 1st of this year and will from this point not allow any submissions of creative content that shows any editing making the model appear thinner or bigger in appearance.

This new initiative will create more positive body image roles within the French community for women of all ages and sizes. With this, there is hope all media outlets presenting fashion in the United States will follow suit and create a more positive outlook for impressionable young individuals who are looking for role models to imitate.
