Rihanna slays on Vogue Arabia Cover
Rihanna embraces her inner Nefertiti.
Rihanna graces the cover of the November issue of Vogue Arabia with a look that pays homage to ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. She has a tattoo of the queen on the left side of her torso.
On the cover with English text, she wears a white frilly top and a blue headdress. On the cover with Arabic text, she rocks the blue headdress and a textured lace coat which looks like snakeskin. Her eyes are covered in blue eyeshadows that brings out her hazel eyes.
The photo shoot was designed to pay homage to one of the greatest Middle Eastern queens, Queen Nefertiti. While Rihanna does look stunning in the shoot, many people have had negative feelings towards the shoot as they believe it is cultural appropriation.
The Editor-in-Chief, Manuel Arnaut, for Vogue Arabia wrote more about why Rihanna was chosen.
He wrote, “We are dedicating the issue to strong and dynamic women who are changing the world. Rihanna, our cover star, is one of them. Not only is she one of the most successful pop icons ever, shaping the entertainment industry with her powerful tunes and unique sense of style, she is also an advocate for diversity.”
