Lady Gaga + Joe Biden to Build Trauma Centers for Sexual Assault Survivors
They want to provide survivors with long-term support.
This week at Glamour‘s Women of the Year Summit in New York, Joe Biden made an announcement that he plans to team up with Lady Gaga to provide survivors of sexual assault support centers. Through all the revelations that have been made about top status men in Hollywood, the conversation of support for the women speaking has not been prevalent.
“Women who are abused end up having long-term physical and physiological problems … We finally are recognizing the long-term impacts,” Biden said in response to an audience member’s question. The plan for these centers, according to a Biden rep, is still in the early stages of being planned.
This will be the second time Biden and Lady Gaga came together since their nonprofit organization It’s On Us. This organization aims to identify and prevent sexual assaults on campus. It will be great to see what these two can do with this plan especially during a time where people are starting to speak more openly.
