‘One Tree Hill’ Creator Mark Schwahn Suspended From ‘The Royals’ on E! After Sexual Harassment Allegations
Many allegations of sexual assault have been coming about lately.
Many of them are against actors, comedians, agents, producers, etc. Just this week Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton and other cast members of One Tree Hill spoke out about sexual misconduct allegations made against OTH creator, Mark Schwahn.
Writer, Audrey Wauchope took to Twitter to detail what her and her writing partner, Rachel Specter went through. While she never mentions Schwahn’s name, it is very obvious who she is speaking about. She says that Schwahn would touch women without their permission, make innuendo, and create a generally hostile work environment that involved showing staff members naked photos of an actress he was having an affair with. The cast members that spoke expressed their support for Wauchope.
The cast and crew members write in an open letter how many of them are still in treatment for post-traumatic stress and felt unsafe on set at times. The women even claim that they were told if they spoke out against Schwahn when the show was still going on, that it would be canceled.
Schwahn currently serves as showrunner on the E! drama “The Royals,” which is going into its fourth season. E! told Us Weekly that they are “monitoring the information carefully.”
“E!, Universal Cable Productions and Lionsgate Television are committed to providing a safe working environment in which everyone is treated respectfully and professionally,” the network said in a statement.
Update: According to the Huffington Post, “Mark Schwahn has been suspended from his series “The Royals” at the E! network following allegations of sexual harassment.”
