Madonna Covers Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’
Britney Spears and Madonna are both considered icons, and icons they are.
They are also good friends who continue to inspire one another.
This past weekend, Madonna covered one of Spears’ most famous songs “Toxic” acoustically and for a good cause too. December 1 is reserved as World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day is to shine a light on the trials, triumphs and the current state of the global fight against AIDS. December 2 happens to be Spears’ birthday. Coincidence or not, Madonna shared the video of herself covering the song.
The caption read, “Silence =Death! Song For World AIDS Day!” including emojis, hashtags, and exclamation points. She couldn’t forget about her friends though. At the end of the caption, she tagged Spears and wished her a happy birthday.
That isn’t all, Spears’ responded with a video of her singing Elvis Presley’s ‘Fools Rush In.’ “I was really inspired yesterday by @madonna’s post,” she said. “She’s right… silence = death! These words really stuck with me, because they are so true.”
Fans and other celebrities both loved the videos. Miley Cyrus even chimed in.
“Can you please sing some Dolly Parton ASAP! And dedicate it to me…if it’s not tooooo much to ask!” she commented.
The world can only hope that she takes Cyrus up on that request.
