INTERVIEW: Bella Thorne on All Things ‘Shake It Up,’ Fashion, and Pursuing Acting

Our cover girl, Bella Thorne, has been a public face since she started modeling as a 6-week old baby!

She recently starred in the Disney Channel TV movie, Frenemies, alongside Zendaya and Stefanie Scott, and currently plays CeCe Jones on Disney’s hit show, Shake It Up! Part actor, dancer, singer, and fashionista extraordinaire, Bella just returned to the Shake It Up set for season 3 and gave Glitter this exclusive interview on what’s she been doing, what she’d like to do, and what she loves about the show. Read on for the latest on the fabulous Bella Thorne!

GLITTER: What did you do during your break from shooting Shake It Up?
BELLA:
I have been traveling for press for the show, taking lots of vocal classes, and hanging with my friends.

GLITTER: What would you like to see happen with your character next season?
BELLA:
I would like to see my character sing on the show. I’d like to put the vocal classes to good use! I’d also like to explore the relationship I have with my little brother played by Davis Cleveland and just show a different side to CeCe.

GLITTER: If you could film a movie with any actor – dead or alive – who would it be and why?
BELLA:
I would love to do a movie with Natalie Portman, Emma Watson, or Tom Cruise. I’d like to work with Natalie and Emma because they are my favorite ac-tresses and do movies that I would love to do one day. Tom Cruise because he just seems genuinely nice and he is a very diverse actor and is always committed to his character.

GLITTER: What are the three most important lessons you have learned since you joined the cast of Shake It Up?
BELLA:
Always treat each other with kindness, appreciate what you have, and hard work pays off.

GLITTER: Finish this sentence: If Bella Thorne ruled the world, . . .
BELLA:
I would find a way to seriously crack down on cyberbullying and help make schools a more pleasant place to attend without the fear of bullies.

GLITTER: What can fans look forward to from you this year?
BELLA:
Hopefully, I will get to do some more music and perform for my fans. I’d also like to become more involved with dosomething.org. It is a passion of mine to be involved in my community.

GLITTER: What are the top three songs on your dance list?
BELLA:
1. “Imma be” (Black Eyed Peas) 2. “OMG” (Usher) 3. “Dancing with myself” (Billy Idol).

GLITTER: Which episode did you enjoy filming most? And why?
BELLA:
I love the episode about dyslexia in the 1st season because I got to share my personal experience with viewers and kids that may have a disability and could relate to my character and her struggle. From season 2, I loved filming the 50’s episode and getting the chance to be retro and live ina time where things are very different than today. My last favorite would be an episode that hasn’t aired yet but is the most fun I’ve had on set. I can’t say much about it but let’s just say things are going to be very funny and very embarrassing.

GLITTER: What has been your favorite fan moment so far?
BELLA:
Any moment with a fan is a favorite of mine but I am especially fond of children who share their stories about disabilities and how they are working to overcome them.

GLITTER: Tell us about DoSomething.org. How can teens get involved with this great organization?
BELLA:
The DoSomething org is an amazing group of people that show people how you can help others in your everyday life. There are so many ways to contribute from very small but significant to more involved deeds. You can go to their site at DoSomething.org and learn online how you can help in your community. It only takes a few minutes and the results last a lifetime.

GLITTER: What advice would you give readers who are pursuing an acting career?
BELLA:
I would say…make sure it is your passion because this is a VERY tough and demanding business and there will be more rejection than actual job opportunities so you have to just be patient and never give up.

GLITTER: Any advice for teens heading back to school that maybe nervous about their first day and fitting in?
BELLA:
I know it seems cheesy but be yourself! No one is going to be a better you than YOU. Also wear a smile….be approachable…you aren’t the only one nervous about the first day.

GLITTER: What is your ultimate back to school outfit?
BELLA:
Jeans, a cute tee, boots and awesome accessories.

GLITTER: What trends will you be rocking this fall?
BELLA:
I’m very excited about the return to black clothing. I also love the fall colors and there is a really lovely tomato red coming in and I love the color. I am also finding myself loving more retro-styled clothing and some of the dresses and hemlines are very interesting to me. Beyond that…it’s BOOT season!
