It’s no secret, Glitter Magazine loves Cody Simpson and he loves us, and our readers, too.

Glitter recently sat down with Cody to talk about what it was like to perform on Dancing with the Stars, what his favorite dance was to perform live, what he plans on doing this summer, and what he hopes to accomplish this year. His best piece of advice is to treat everyone as an equal. And advice for someone in love? Be grateful every day that you’re in this position. Treat that one person each and every day as though it’s your last with them. Can everyone just “aww” for a moment? Now, do you see why we love him so? Read on to find out more about our amazingly talented cover celeb.

GLITTER: What was it like to perform on Dancing with the Stars?
CODY:
DWTS was an amazing experience. I’m really honored to have participated and worked with such an awesome dancer like Witney Carson. The schedule was grueling, but I learned some great moves that I’ll definitely pull out in the future!

GLITTER: What was your favorite dance to perform live?
CODY:
Performing the samba was a blast. Witney and I put a lot of thought and effort into our costumes and song choice that week. I’m hoping to be able to incorporate the new styles of dance I learned into my upcoming shows.

GLITTER: What’s your favorite part about performing live and acoustically?
CODY:
Performing live is a thrill. You feed off the energy of the crowd and have the ability to arrange the song differently than its original recording. Having a live band really brings out the full potential of the song. It’s also amazing to be able to interact with the fans and ensure their entire concert experience is rewarding.

GLITTER: What do you hope to accomplish this year?
CODY:
I’m more focused on the music than I ever have been. Redefining myself as an artist and crafting exceptional music for the world are my main priorities right now. I’m in the studio every day working on bettering myself. I think everyone will be really impressed. I can’t wait to share the new stuff!

GLITTER: What is your favorite thing to do in the summertime?
CODY:
I’m out for a surf every spare moment I have. The weather in California is beautiful and the beaches are spot on.

GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be and why?
CODY:
I really look up to artists like Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and Ed Sheeran. I think any of those collaborations would be amazing. Their music inspires me a lot when I’m creating my own.

GLITTER: Is it tough being in the public eye?
CODY:
It’s tough at times, but it’s a sacrifice I made to do what I love. My family and I do our best to keep parts of our lives private, but we also like to share some of it with my fans. A good balance is all I need!

GLITTER: What are your plans for this summer?
CODY:
I’m going to be in the studio up until mid-June and then I’ll be heading off to tour Europe for about a month. We have a bunch of other festival dates and shows were in the process of confirming as well, stay tuned.

GLITTER: What’s the most difficult part about making a new album?
CODY:
Breaking free from tradition and finding a new and fresh feel for the music. It’s easy to stick by what you’ve done in the past but it’s much more rewarding to venture into the unknown and create a new sound.
