Black Out at The Golden Globes

This year’s Golden Globe awards did not disappoint when it comes to the gorgeous dresses worn on the red carpet.

This year the Golden Globes had a theme that was equal parts gorgeous and statement-making. Almost every person that attended the Golden Globes wore black in support of the Time’s Up movement. The time’s up movement according to the website is about ” a unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere. From movie sets to farm fields to boardrooms alike, we envision nationwide leadership that reflects the world in which we live.”
The decision to wear black on the red carpet had been discussed since December in order to make a statement about sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and other workplaces. Not only did the women wear black, but the men did too by trading in their white shirts under their jackets for a black one. People also wore time’s up pins in support of the movement.
The reason for this was to start a conversation that should be had more. The topic was talked about both on the red carpet and during acceptance speeches. This was the start of a movement that will become so much more than just a black dress, but the start of a conversation about harassment that should be openly talked about. Hats off to everyone that stood in support of the time’s up movement of fighting sexual harassment in the workplace.
