‘Black Lightning’ Shares First Look of Nafessa Williams as Thunder
When you hear thunder, you should know that lightning isn’t far behind.
The series premiere of Black Lightning is nearly a week away and we have some new sneak peeks. The CW has released the first look of Nafessa Williams as Thunder on the show’s official social media pages. Thunder’s look may be stunning with gold, but warns that messing with her would be the wrong thing to do. Nafessa Williams, who portrays Annisa Pierce/Thunder, has been showing her excitement on social media ahead of the series premiere.
In a teaser trailer, China Ann McClain discusses her role as Jennifer Pierce, the 16-year-old daughter of Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), whose alter-ego is Black Lightning. Her strife for justice leads her to follow in her father’s footsteps to become the superhero, Lightning, with her older sister Annisa Pierce (Williams) as Thunder. McClain conveys the strong relationship her character has with family, who can be overprotective over the youngest Pierce. The family bond extends to off-screen, McClain stating that she “connected with everybody” and has lead to them joking around on set.
Black Lightning airs Tuesday nights on The CW starting January 16.
