Get to Know Jordan Buhat as Vivek on ‘Grown-ish’

Take a closer look at the man behind Vivek from Freeform’s latest hit Grown-ish.

The college grad is going back to college. In the spin-off of Black-ish,  which follows Zoey Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi, and introduces us to her classmates, including Jordan Buhat as Vivek, a first generation Indian-American freshman at Southern California University in Grown-ish.

The classically trained alum of University of Alberta and resident of Vancouver, Canada, has booked the series regular role of Vivek in the biggest comedy series launch since 2012. With 15 stage productions tucked under his belt, Buhat will put his talent to the test in the program designed to “take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education,” according to executive producer Kenya Barris.

This is a photo of me handing in my first application to the Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting Program at the University of Alberta in 2011. I did not get in that year. . Or the next year (2012) . Or the next (2013) . I finally got into the program in 2014 and graduated in 2017. . . . This photo reminds me that no matter how many times you fail, if you want something enough, have a passion for it, train hard and train smart, goals can be achieved. . Three strikes, you’re out? Buhat’s interest include dogs, Crossfit, and showing off his rockin’ bod – or at least that’s what his Instagram tells us, but you can see for yourself.
