Colin Kaepernick Keeps His Word and Donates $1,000,000 to Promote Social Justice with the Million Dollar Pledge
The current free agent NFL quarterback has pledged to donate $1,000,000 to a number of social justice organizations.Today marks the beginning of an end. For a little over a year, Colin Kaepernick has been donating $100,000 from earnings made from of his jersey sales from his 2016 season with the San Francisco 49ers every month. Earlier this week he had announced that this last month he would be doing something different. In this #10for10 gesture, he will be donating $10,000 to ten different organizations over the course of next ten days.
After gathering names of organizations from friends for the last hoorah, Kaepernick has teamed up with Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors who matched his offer for day one. Together the two donated $20,000 to Silicon Valley De-Bug in San Jose, CA, which is a non-profit organization that uplifts young people to push them towards social mobility and provides assistance to families with incarcerated family members.
My brother Kevin Durant @KDTrey5 has generously decided to match my donation of $10,000, with $10,000 of his own, making the total donation to De-Bug $20,000!!! My brother Kevin, you are truly a champion on, and off the court. #MillionDollarPledge #10for10 https://t.co/aK6dKa5Boa pic.twitter.com/He41wgChCF
