Meghan Markle’s Namesake Is At A Zoo
It looks like Meghan Markle is leaving her mark in London before the royal wedding.
The London Zoo announced its naming their newborn okapi, Meghan, after Meghan Markle.
The zookeepers decided on this name in celebration of the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
This sounds nice, but what exactly is an okapi?

The newborn okapi who was born in early December is also known as the forest giraffe or zebra giraffe. Okapis are native to the Democratic Republic of Congo with only about 25,000 being left in the wild.
The couple, who were engaged in November, recently took a trip to Wales in the campaign of introducing Markle to Britain. The royal wedding is scheduled to take place in May at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor’s Castle.
Both Prince Harry and Markle have expressed their commitment to the conservation of wildlife and endangered species in Africa and across the world. Due to its population decline, the okapi is listed as an endangered species.
It is this commitment that led to this honor from the London Zoo.
