We Asked Hillary Rodman Clinton Why ‘Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History,’ Find Out What She Said

Former Secretary of State, former Senator of New York and Arkansas, 2016 Presidential Nominee and political activist, Hillary Clinton, had some sage advice on what Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s quote means to her. Her advice is amazing! We ran into her at the GIRLS BUILD LA event.

GLITTER: Hillary Clinton is here with us today. In the preface for one of the chapters of her new book, “What Happened,” there is a quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich that reads, “Well behaved women seldom make history.” What does that quote mean to you?

HILLARY CLINTON: I say this very strongly, you have to be extremely passionate about something and you’re going to have to push through some barriers to get what’s best for yourself or a greater cause, and today we’re celebrating different community issues that girls can impact. So yes, they do need to get a little bit pushy and use their elbows. It’s part of our lives.
