Elton John Announces Touring Retirement
Legendary singer Elton John announced in a press conference on Wednesday that his 50-year touring career is coming to a close.
Elton John is a British singer and songwriter, who released his first self-titled album in 1970. He found additional success with composing on Broadway, with works that went on to win 10 Tony awards. Some of his most popular hits today are “Crocodile Rock” and “Philadelphia Freedom.” He’s said to having sold more than 250 million albums in the course of his impressive career.
Elton shared that he will still be continuing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour that starts in September, but that will be his last. Elton and his husband David Furnish have two children, and he explained that his priorities have changed and they are now his focus. He stated that after a conversation with his husband. John thought, “I don’t want to miss too much of this.” He has been sharing posts of great moments of his career on Instagram, as an ode to the past and excitement for the future.
