The former team USA gymnastics doctor may face jail time for up to 175 years.

156 victims, including Olympic champions Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, and Jordyn Wieber, delivered powerful statements condemning Nassar for what he did to them. They also called out the institutions that enabled him to continue abusing them for so long.

In response to these testimonies, Nassar complained that listening to them harmed his mental health. The judge responded, “You may find it harsh that you are here listening. But nothing is as harsh as what your victims endured for thousands of hours at your hands.”

At the sentencing on Wednesday January 24th, Kaylee Lorincz said that, “We were ultimately strong enough to take you down. Not one by one, but by an army of survivors. We are Jane Does no more.”

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced Nassar 40 to 175 years in prison on Wednesday. The former USA gymnastics doctor has already been sentenced to 60 years in prison for child pornography and will face sentencing next week for more sexual assault convictions. To Judge Aquilina, it was an “honor and privelege” to sentence him.
