Oprah Visits Recy Taylor’s Grave
Oprah Winfrey shared on her Instagram on Tuesday a photo of her visiting Recy Taylor’s grave, after mentioning her during her Golden Globes speech.
Oprah told Taylor’s story to the audience during her speech when she won the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes. She told of how Taylor had been abducted and raped by 6 white men, and had gone to the NAACP despite being told not to. No prosecution was made against these men. She ends her speech by telling that she hopes the truth of Taylor and other women like her continues on.
With the not so random trip to Taylor’s grave, Oprah shows the continued importance of fighting for women’s struggles. We hope to see even more inspiration to fight for women in this coming year.
