‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spinoff Officially Has a Name
The Grey’s Anatomy spinoff is slowly approaching and officially has a name.
The firefighter based show will be called Station 19. The title comes from the name of the firehouse that is at the center of the story. The new series will focus on the personal and professional lives of the men and women at a Seattle firehouse. The best part may be that the station is located only three blocks away from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

The spinoff will have a total of 10 episodes with its characters to be introduced on Grey’s Anatomy this season. Grey’s Anatomy regular, Jason George, will also join the show this season. George’s character, Dr. Ben Warren, has discussed becoming a firefighter over the past few episodes of Grey’s. Station 19 will also star Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre and Miguel Sandoval.

The creative forces behind the latest addition to Shondaland are Shonda Rhimes and fellow producer, Besty Beers. Ellen Pompeo will be a co-executive producer on the show with Grey’s Anatomy alum Stacy McKee serving as showrunner. As the spinoff is set in the same verse as Grey’s, McKee states there is the potential for crossovers. The world premiere trailer will be seen during next week’s Grey’s Anatomy.
Station 19 premieres March 22 at 9 pm EST on ABC.
