Portia de Rossi Gives a Heartwarming Gift for Ellen on Her 60th Birthday
Ellen DeGeneres cries after receiving “the best birthday gift” from her wife, Portia.
“It’s your 60th birthday and this gift had to be really special and it had to represent who you are and what you really care about,” Portia said while explaining what she got Ellen for her 60th birthday.
According to Ellen, what Portia gives her for her 60th birthday is “one of the highlights” of her life.
Portia de Rossi talks about how she came up with the gift brings Ellen to tears and how she combined questions like, “Who is your idol?” and “What would you do if you weren’t a talk show host?” She proceeds to show Ellen and the audience a video about Dian Fossey and who she was as a person and in National Geographic. Dian Fossey was Ellen’s hero and inspiration, so for her Birthday, Portia decided to have Ellen partner with her idol and be apart of something bigger.
Portia stated, “So, for your birthday, Ellen, I am bringing you and your hero, Dian, together by building The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.” Portia gave Ellen the opportunity to carry on Dian’s legacy and stating, “You will carry on Dian’s legacy by giving them a permanent home in Rwanda. Now, you will join Dian as a protector and champion of these amazing animals, the mountain gorillas. Happy birthday!”
Portia brought Ellen to tears by giving her the most sentimental and caring gift that she could think of.
