To date, the program that introduced the reality-competition genre, has earned 57 Emmy nominations and claimed eight awards, including the Governors Award in 2016. On top of that, talented artists from the show’s previous fifteen seasons have won 13 Grammys, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award, among others.
After inspiring 53 countries around the world to adopt their own Idol spinoffs, the hit series is set to return to the US. Having launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Lambert, we are excited to see what 2018’s contestants have to offer. American Idol contestants have already sold over 61 million albums, and earned 47 platinum records and 95 gold records.
The show’s sixteenth season is set to return on Sunday, March 11 on ABC at 8/7c.
