Lupita Nyong’o Brings Natural Hair Beauty to the Cover of ‘Allure’

(Allure)

The actress opened up about her hair, politics, and her upcoming film Black Panther in the March 2018 issue.

Lupita Nyong’o graced the cover of Allure and looked as amazing as ever. The cover reads “The culture of hair,” which is what Lupita openly discusses in the new issue.

Rising to stardom from her role in 12 Years a Slave, Nyong’o explained her insecurities growing up with her natural hair. She said, “Well, I didn’t love my hair when I was a child. It was lighter than my skin, which made me not love it so much. I was really kind of envious of girls with thicker, longer, more lush hair. In my tween years, I started begging my mother to have my hair relaxed.”

Lupita also described the time when she decided to shave it all off and how she felt scared, but the experience was very liberating. Now, with her hairstylist Vernon Francois, who she says is amazing, the gorgeous actress explained how she now loves her hair, which is the longest it’s been in over a decade, and that she has “been able to embrace the stuff it can do.”

It’s amazing how breathtaking Lupita looks in this issue, and we can’t wait to see her rock it in Black Panther, which hits theaters Friday, Feb. 16.
