DJ Khaled Joins ‘We Are the Dream’ Campaign
French Montana’s campaign to help undocumented immigrants in the U.S. obtain a higher education recently gained a new spokesperson and supporter.
As the son of Palestinian immigrants, this campaign hits close to home for Khaled. The DJ hopes to convince his fans to join the movement and encourages them to publish posts on social media with the hashtag #WeAreTheDream while tagging GetSchooled, which is a nonprofit organization that helped launch the “We Are the Dream” campaign.
The Justice Department announced its plans last August to defer DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. This ended up compromising the education of almost 800,000 Dreamers. In response, French Montana launched the “We Are the Dream” campaign to ensure that enrolled immigrants who are undocumented can remain in school.
DJ Khaled and French Montana are not the only celebrities using their platform to advocate for Dreamers, as Camila Cabello recently showed her support for them during a speech on MTV’s TRL.
