13 Reasons Why Actor Receives Letter from a Special Fan
Justin Prentice plays one of the most hated roles in the series 13 Reasons Why.
The character that he plays is Bryce. In the show, Bryce is a bully, sexual predator, and a big liar. However, Justin is nothing like Bryce in real life, he is a big sweetheart. Netflix decided to do a study on how adults and young people reacted to the show. They released a video of Justin Prentice reading a letter to him from a sexual assault survivor.
The letter starts off by introducing the writer and talks about how they are a victim of sexual assault and a suicide survivor. The fan writes, “You portray a person I’m terrified of, but you’re showing someone that needs to be put out there and talked about.”
While reading this letter, Justin becomes emotional because of what inspiring words this fan had to say to him. Justin said, “These are the heroes. These are the true people. These are people you should look up to and aspire to be like.”
The series became very controversial because of what was shown. This letter shows how much of a good thing it can be for people who have gone through situations like in the show and how it may be tough to watch, but it should not be tough to talk about. It started some hard conversations that needed to be had and that seems to be the goal of this series.
