Sam Smith Collaborates with Logic for a New Version of ‘Pray’
Smith dropped a new track while on tour.
Sam Smith has announced that he will be re-releasing his single “Pray,” but with a new guest on the track, Logic. This new version was released on Thursday after its release as part of Smith’s second album.
Inspired by the time that he spent in Iraq with the charity War Child, “Pray” holds a special place in Smith’s heart. “I spent five days in Mosul and came back embarrassed that I had known so little about the world and other people’s lives,” the singer told Billboard. “I went back to that great Nina Simone quote, that it is important to speak about the times you live in. I hadn’t done that; I’d just written a bunch of songs about love. So I wanted to write about how I’m now starting to open my eyes, at 25, to what is going on in the rest of the world, and that it’s not always pretty.”
Expect to hear the Timbaland-produced number on Smith’s The Thrill of it All Tour, which kicked off just last week in his motherland, England. After making international rounds, Smith will pick things up in North America about mid-June.
