Teacher Resigns After Being Exposed as a Host of a White Supremacist Podcast
The teacher’s hateful views seem to be a conflict of interest, for obvious reasons.
After being revealed as a host for a white supremacist podcast, a Florida middle school teacher has reportedly resigned.
It has been reported that Dayanna Volitich, a 25-year-old social studies teacher, was removed from her classroom at Crystal River Middle School last month. This comes after district officials began an investigation after Huffington Post reported that Volitich was the mastermind working under the pseudonym “Tiana Dalichov” behind the podcast “Unapologetic,” along with a Twitter account full of anti-Semitic and racist posts, which has now been made private.
Volitich confirmed through her attorney that it was her voice of the program, but insisted the comments were “political satire and exaggeration,” while the persona was a “hobby” rather than an extension of herself.
On her podcast, Volitich argued that “science” has proven that certain races are smarter than others, but it did not end there. In one episode she spoke about sharing her white nationalist beliefs in the classroom, even though she claimed in her statement that she never “injected into my teaching of social studies curriculum.”
Mike Mullen, the Citrus County School District assistant superintendent said in a statement emailed to CNN on Monday that Volitich had submitted a letter of resignation, but will not be finalized until the school board accepts it at their April 10 meeting.
