Elon Musk and Grimes Are Officially a Couple
Space X founder Elon Musk and Canadian musician Claire Boucher, AKA Grimes, went public with their relationship at the Met Gala.
It turns out that the two have been dating for the last month, and there’s a pretty funny story behind how they met.
The innovative billionaire was researching a joke that he would tweet about the thought experiment Roko’s Basilisk–an evil future AI that punishes all who refuse to do its bidding.
Musk wanted to implement the pun “Rococo” Basilisk, a play on the French 18th Century Baroque style. However, when he searched the internet, he discovered that the synth-pop artist had already made such a joke in the 2015 music video for her song “Flesh Without Blood.”
Upon this coincidence, Musk reached out to Boucher, and they’ve secretly been an item ever since. He even posted the tweet, along with a link to the Wikipedia page, to hint at his Met Gala date in anticipation of the reports that would follow their outing.
