Stars Are Sporting Purple Hair for a Good Cause

The latest trend in brightly dyed locks is more than just a trend.Celebrities such as US Olympic gymnast Jordyn Wieber and Riverdale stars Vanessa Morgan and Madelaine Petsch are all rocking purple hair to honor the San Celemente-based açaí company Sambazon’s #PurpleForThePlanet initiative.

Sambazon’s rainforest conservation campaign began on Earth Day and will run through May 22nd. They’ve partnered with the Rainforest Trust’s “Save-An-Acre Program” to donate five acres of rainforest for every purple-headed image on social media posted with the #PurpleForThePlanet tag.

If you were worried about the commitment, fear not! Petsch noted in her caption that her purple hair is merely a digital effect, but that you can also opt for other methods less permanent than dye, like hair chalk.
