2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards to Honor Chris Pratt with Generation Award
At this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, the Generation Award will go to the ‘Star-Lord’ himself, Chris Pratt. This is an honor only bestowed upon one outstanding talent per year for their noteworthy contributions to film and television, whose success has earned them the status of a household name in the industry.
Previous recipients include legends such as Will Smith in 2016, Johnny Depp in 2012, and Sandra Bullock in 2010. Pratt will follow in these great footsteps in recognition of his work throughout the years, from his early days in television to his more recent roles on the silver screen.
Named one of TIME’s “100 Most Influential People” of 2017, the 38-year-old caught his first big break as the goofy and loveable ‘Andy Dwyer’ on NBC’s Parks and Recreation in 2009. The series concluded in 2015, at which time he quickly rose to movie-stardom with his role in Jurassic World–the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time–the sequel of which will hit theaters on June 22nd.
Pratt took on the role of the ‘Star-Lord’ in Guardians of the Galaxy (Volumes 1 & 2), both of which amassed a total of $1.6 billion combined at the global box office. He makes his return to the character in the hotly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, already a huge success in the two weeks since its premiere. His other memorable film performances include roles in Passengers, The Magnificent Seven, Moneyball, The Lego Movie, Her and Zero Dark Thirty.
The awards show will air on Monday, June 18th at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hanger in Los Angeles with Tiffany Haddish as its host. Tune in to see your favorite funny-man turned superhero recognized for his accomplishments, and, of course, be sure to catch him in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom this summer.
