MTV Suspends ‘Catfish’ over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

(MTV)

The show’s executive producer and host, Nev Schulman, has been accused of sexual harassment by a former participant from Season 4, but that’s not all there is to the story.

Ayissha Morgan appeared on Catfish in 2015, and she opened up about her experience filming the episode in a video she posted to her Youtube channel on Saturday, May 12th.

“This video I’ve actually done three times… this isn’t an easy video,” Morgan explains, “With the show still being on the air and so many girls still doing the show, I’d feel like a j****** if something happened and I hadn’t said anything.”

She uses aliases to tell her story, describing the incidents that occurred both on the set of the show and in the hotel after hours. The host, whom she refers to as “Jack,” made comments about her sexuality, insisting that she wasn’t really a lesbian and that she should be with him, amongst other inappropriate remarks.

She also claims that the female production assistant she calls “Carol” sexually assaulted her at the hotel, and that the crew made fun of her the next day after the ordeal.

Schulman has since denied the allegations entirely, but the case is still in the early stages. The network has suspended production of the show regardless, and an MTV spokesperson has reported to E! News, “We take these allegations very seriously. We’re working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation and we’ve put a pause on shooting until the investigation is completed.”
