All About the Women.nyc Rally in New York City
New York City hosted a rally to promote a game-changing service that will aid women to success.
Women.nyc is a newly launched website meant for career-related guidance for women, specifically. Its goal is to foster a community driven by females, to provide resources, create partnerships, and network policies and ideas. This portal allows women to look up information about finding a job, creating a business, or raising children.
The site launched on Wednesday, May 16th. There are planned upcoming workshops and programs designed to promote the initiative. On May 17th, an event was hosted at Washington Square Park as the Women.nyc brand lit up the famed arch.
For now, this website currently serves the women of NYC. Though New York City has the smallest wage gap in the United States, that does not mean it isn’t there. In New York, women make 89 cents for every dollar men make.
Women continue to face hurdles preceding their success, due to a multitude of factors. One factor that stands out is inflexible family leave policies.
This is groundbreaking as its services could improve success rates of females in the working industry across different large cities.
“Women have waited long enough for equal pay, power, and respect. In New York City, we aren’t going to wait any longer.” -Alicia Glen, NY Deputy Mayor of Housing and Economic Development
