Hailee Steinfeld Joins the Marvel Family as Spider-Gwen
Hailee Steinfeld voices the spunky spider superhero in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Earlier this week the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer was released.
The comic-book style animated movie is Miles Morales’ first time on the big screen.
Morales, an Afro-Latin teen, voiced by The Get Down‘s Shameik Moore, is the first person of color version of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
According to the trailer, the action-packed and family-friendly film takes place in “another universe, that looks and sounds like yours — but it’s not.”
Spidey fans of all types can be excited about this film. Not only will you see Miles Morales and Peter Parker working together to save the New York of Morale’s Earth, but Spider-Gwen will also be making her cinematic debut.
Gwen Stacy is often remembered as the love interest of Peter Parker, but on an alternate earth in the “Spider-verse,” Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of the Parker and takes on the role traditionally held by him.
Spider-Gwen’s appearance in the movie was as much of a shock to Marvel and fans as it was to Hailee Steinfeld’s fans, who learned that the Bumblebee and Pitch Perfect 3 actress would be voicing the character
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters December 14.
