Former First Ladies Are Coming Together to Stand for What Is Right

Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Rosalynn Carter all speak against the Trump administration’s policy on separating children and parents at borders. This issue has been taking over the internet along with stirring up rallies and marches to stop the breaking up and separation of families. The first ladies share their thoughts and responses on Twitter about Trump’s unjust policy.

What’s happening to families at the border right now is a humanitarian crisis. Every parent who has ever held a child in their arms, every human being with a sense of compassion and decency, should be outraged.

I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.https://t.co/he1uw1E96A

Michelle and Hillary both responded to Laura’s tweet saying,
Sometimes truth transcends party. https://t.co/TeFM7NmNzU

The test of any nation is how we treat the most vulnerable among us. First Lady @LauraWBush made that case eloquently. https://t.co/A01S6Ksl4Y

The first ladies of the U.S. are mothers first before their occupations, so they understand the pain and the hurt from these mothers who are being separated from their children at the borders. We must stand up and stop the division of families that the Trump administration is trying to separate.
