Ariel Winter Battles Instagram Copyright Violation
No one can tell Ariel Winter what to post on Instagram, apparently not even Instagram.
Earlier this week, Modern Family actress, Ariel Winter shared on Instagram a candid picture of herself pumping gas with the caption, “Honestly the ONLY reason I’m posting this is because I’ve never seen a more accurate picture of myself.”
Although the picture is of Winter, the 20-year-old received an email from Instagram stating that her photo was removed because it violates a third party’s copyrights.
Posting a picture of the email, Winter wrote, “Lol they removed my photo because it violated someone else’s rights? It’s literally a photo of me that someone sent me on Twitter?”
Like the Sophia the First voice actress, you may be confused on how the picture violates someone else’s rights.
As it turns out, Winter does not own the picture even though it’s of her. This is because according to copyright laws, the image is owned by the photographer, or who they sell it to, not by the person in it.
No matter the case, Winter doesn’t seem to be backing down, and will likely follow through with her threat of reposting the picture “every time it’s taken down,” as she did with the above post.
Only time will tell what Instagram’s next move will be.
