Ed Sheeran has a very large following through his music and for his 2017 album, Divide. Shape Of You was one of the most popular songs on the album and was played on every single radio station during the entire Summer of 2017. However, Ed Sheeran’s song, Thinking Out Loud, from his album, X, was said to be allegedly copied from the legendary and famous Marvin Gaye’s classic Let’s Get it On. If we start suing every artist who uses a chord progression or drum beat another artist has used before, no one will be safe

The chord progressions for both songs sound similar, and we can see how the song could be a replica of Marvin Gaye’s song. Overall, lots of artists borrow songs, use the same chord progression, remix, and change songs from other artists to go with the modern beats and sounds of today’s music.
