Alisha Wainwright Joins the Cast of Netflix’s ‘Raising Dion’

While the future of Shadowhunters hangs in the balance, Alisha Wainwright takes on a new powerful project.

Joining Michael B. Jordan and Ja’Siah Young, the trio will play the Reese family in the upcoming Netflix series Raising Dion.

The series, based on a comic book and short film by Dennis Liu, centers on Wainwright’s character, Nicole Reese, as she navigates single motherhood, and raising a son with growing superhero powers.

According to a statement released by Netflix, Raising Dion “follows the story of a woman named Nicole Reese, who raises her son Dion after the death of her husband Mark (Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several magical, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat, and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.”

The 10-episode “sci-fi, family drama” series is set to be released on Netflix sometime next year, and it appears that production has already begun.
