The ‘Little Women’ Movie May Have an All-Star Cast Joining Director Greta Gerwig
Lady Bird‘s Greta Gerwig is will be directing the Little Women film and is looking at some big names for the drama.
The film is based on the book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It is a coming of age novel that shares the story of four sisters (Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy) as they move from childhood to adulthood. All four of them are very different, including the challenges they face. It is set in a poverty-stricken neighborhood in Massachusetts during the Civil War.
In the talks for the roles of the latest adaption are Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan, and Timothée Chalamet. Ronan and Chalamet worked on Gerwig’s very successful Lady Bird. Nothing is set in stone, but the studio will be testing a few actresses for Beth opposite of Emma Stone.
There have been many adaptions of Little Women over the years, but we have a feeling this one will stand out with Gerwig behind the camera. This also comes at a time that more women’s voices are being heard. Hopefully, telling four different stories of sisters, we can find ourselves in one of them.
