Billie Lourd Gave Her Blessing for Carrie Fisher to Reprise Her Role in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’
Finally, there is exciting news about the next Star Wars movie and it is who will be apart of Episode IX.
One of those names may surprise you as it is Carrie Fisher as the iconic Princess Leia. Disney dropped the news as director J.J. Abrams revealed Fisher would return using “previously unreleased footage shot for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'”
The move was made after getting Billie Lourd’s blessing, who is Fisher’s daughter. Lourd and Fisher were a strong mother-daughter duo, with Lourd evening joining her mother in Episodes VII and VII of the Star Wars films. Fisher unfortunately passed in 2016 after complications from a heart attack.
Arams added to the significance the Fisher had on the Star Wars community saying, “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character.”
Other cast members joining Episode IX are Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams.
