Netflix Drops ‘Maniac’ Teaser with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill
Emma Stone and Jonah Hill sit totally still, staring at each other in the minute-long teaser.
As the video begins with the narrator blankly saying “There’s no reason to believe that anything about us can’t be changed. The mind can be solved.” The teaser goes on to flash random colors over the screen.

Maniac is a limited series with 10 episodes that is directed by True Detective‘s Cary Joji Fukunaga.
While the teaser doesn’t give us a whole lot to go off of, Netflix’s premise for the show reads as: “Set in a world somewhat like our own and similar to our time, Maniac tells the stories of Annie Landsberg (played by Stone) and Owen Milgrim (played by Hill), two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Annie’s disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister; Owen, the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.”
It adds that the pill can “repair anything about the mind, be it mental illness or heartbreak.” But things don’t turn out the way they are supposed to.
Other cast members include Sally Field and Justin Theroux. It will premiere on Netflix on September 21.
