Multi-Talented Creative Kendrick Lamar Lands Role in ‘Power’
Kendrick Lamar is proving to be a multi-faceted entertainer, rapper, and “power”-ful actor.
Kendrick Lamar burst into the music scene with his 2012 Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. He is well-known to be one of the best artists of this generation. He was the first rapper to win a Pulitzer Prize for his music with fourth album DAMN.
Lamar is never content just living with his achievements He is continuing to push himself in new ways, like acting. He is now being praised for his acting guest role on Starz’s Power.
“He was so chill, like very cool, very humble. He’s very kind of quiet and thorough and methodical. He had prepared so much. He was ready. He’s really gifted, tremendously gifted. I mean it’s a total transformation. It is not a version of Kendrick Lamar that you’ve ever seen before,” says creator and producer Courtney Kemp.

In the episode, Lamar played a homeless and mentally ill addict named Laces, who helps character Kanan settle a dispute with a rival. His portrayal won him raving reviews by Power fans.
“I don’t want to be something people predict or know, I want to be something out of the ordinary, but something I connect to at the same time,” says Lamar.
